From Apprentice to Account Manager


OnlineDIRECT works with Starting Off, a specialist recruitment firm which helps place Apprentices into businesses in Northamptonshire. Reece Minards joined OnlineDIRECT as an Apprentice in 2015 and shares his success story:

You can’t but help notice Reece in the busy OnlineDIRECT office and be drawn to his enthusiasm. He confidently stands while speaking to clients on the phone and if away from his desk can be found cheerily engaging with colleagues.

He’s come a long way after joining the business 3 years ago and puts his progress down to the support given from Starting Off and OnlineDIRECT’s Apprenticeship programme:

“Before joining OnlineDIRECT I had a couple of jobs but no focus and was not sure which direction to go in. When I heard about the opportunity to become an Apprentice I jumped at it as I was guaranteed on the job training and a clear career path. I’ve not looked back since walking through the door all those months ago, where working hard and wanting to learn has resulted in significant career progression for me.”

Reece joined as a Pricing Support Analyst, working as an Administrator in the Bespoke Pricing team. The role meant he was processing Corporate Tenders, deal sheets and resolving any issues. He was given time to understand the business and develop a range of skills whilst completing an 18 month Apprenticeship programme which resulted in a Level 2 NVQ in Business Admin.

Today he is an Account Manager, which means he looks after contracts on behalf of his portfolio of brokers, and assists in dealing with any questions or issues that have been escalated to him. However Reece sees this as only the start of his journey with OnlineDIRECT:

“I’m lucky to be working in such a friendly and open company which also offers growth both personally and on a professional level. I’ve been able to learn new skills following training in areas such as Excel, plus I get to work with a great team. I know I can progress my career at OnlineDIRECT which makes coming to work each day something I really look forward to.”

Who’s your inspiration? Alan Sugar – he knows his mind and has worked hard to get where he is today

Steak or salad? Can’t beat a good steak!

What do you get up to in your spare time? I really enjoy socialising plus I’m into designer watches and clothes so you’ll often find me shopping to relax
