EV Charge Point Installation

EV chargers are becoming increasingly popular among UK businesses - presenting energy brokers the opportunity to provide additional value to their customers, and generate a recurring revenue stream for next-to-no effort.

As the UK government intends to ban the sale of new petrol & diesel cars by 2035, the demand for EV charging infrastructure is expected to rise rapidly. The transition is eased by the availability of various charging options such as home, workplace, and public charging, with an increase in fast and ultra-fast chargers.

The Opportunity for Brokers

EV charge point installations are an easy way to make extra money as you can choose to simply provide us with the lead and leave us to do the work for you!

We can communicate directly with the client and installer on your behalf – it’s up to you how involved you want to be once you’ve submitted the initial request for a site survey.

  • Diversify your services/portfolio
  • Help promote sustainability & goals for reaching net zero
  • Additional revenue stream with continuous residual income
  • Government grants available for customers enabling brokers to help clients save money

Benefits for your customers

There are multiple benefits to businesses when it comes to installing EV charging points, whether or not they are looking to reduce business vehicle emissions and save money on commercial fleet and employee fuel costs. For example, they can boost their benefits offer to employees & promote sustainability, and add an extra revenue stream by controlling who uses the charger(s) & how much they pay to do so. Plus, they can also track costs and usage separately to their building energy usage.

Broker FAQs

Businesses that tend to benefit most from electric vehicle (EV) charge points are those that are located in places where people will be there for a long time. For example:

  • Offices
  • Retail Parks
  • Restaurants
  • Schools
  • Hospitals/clinics

Businesses such as farms, convenience stores or any business where people don’t pass through much or for a long time, would be better off having a domestic EV charge installation rather than a commercial one as it would most likely be more for their own use.

Working with OnlineDIRECT, Brokers will receive commission of 10% of the total hardware & install cost (paid upon completion), plus 7.5% of each charge transaction & £10 per socket per year.

Capital or lease purchase is available for business customers installing EV charge points.

EV charge points can be installed relatively quickly. If there are no hold ups, customers can expect to have revenue-generating meters within one month of the initial site survey taking place.

EV charge points draw power from the customer’s existing energy supplier at their standard rate.

At present, suppliers do not offer EV tariffs for business, but this is something that we are in conversation with our energy supplier partners as we know there is an increasing demand for this type of tariff.

When installed through OnlineDIRECT’s EV partner, businesses are provided with access to an energy analytics platform that allows them to monitor the charge point, see the usage and even amend the tariff.

This <energy analytics platform can then be rolled out to help the business monitor and manage their broader business energy consumption. Brokers are encouraged to speak with their Account Manager to find out more information.

When installed through OnlineDIRECT’s EV partner, maintenance costs are included in the total cost except for the hardware. All EV chargers come with a standard 3-year warranty from the hardware manufacturer.

Customers benefit from 24/7 support from a specialist team, ensuring reliability and minimising downtime, plus dedicated account management and proactive maintenance to keep your chargers running.
